Giant Wheat Anyone?

We are always in some crazy project. We are on the float committee for our stake and we are in charge of making giant 6 foot wheat stalks. At first I had no idea how we were going to accomplish this but Jason is amazing. He came up with the plan and put a prototype together. When he took it to the guy in charge he said it was better than he ever imagined.
We now have to make 50 of them and it is not a fast process. You should see the looks we get from people when they walk past our house. I just want to scream "do you have a problem haven't you ever seen giant wheat before." But of course I am nice and explain it to everyone that passes by.

I did this cont......

After spending all day on Friday working on the tile I thought there is no way I can continue. If the top part took 12 hours how long will the rest take? I had some inspiration in the middle of the night and a second person helping me cut the tiles and we were able to complete the tiling in 6 hours. Not bad. I love how it looks and I can wait to take a shower in it. It is prettier than I ever thought possible. And I don't think I ever want to do it again though, my fingers and hands are all cracked and really sore from the grout and mud. But I guess it was worth it. Now all I have to do is seal it tomorrow and then we can use it Yeah!
I guess I better get a shower curtain.

I did this.....

12 long hours of tiling and this is what I have to show for it. The whole time I worked I thought of that crazy Lowes commercial with the 3 ladies going around the room looking at the things the one lady had done and saying, you did this, and this, and that? I did that!
I have worked my back side off today. My hands and feet are killing me but, looking at the results, I would have to say it was worth it and the fun thing is I get to start all over tomorrow.
I never even got out of my pj's today. I had on the best shirt that is bright red and in great big letters across the front it said "Awesome!" I am sure that is what my neighbor thought out mowing his lawn every time I came out to cut another piece of tile.
Anyway Mim requested I post whatever I got done today so, Mim, this is for you!
Good night!

Bathroom

The bathroom is moving along nicely. Jason and I painted last Saturday. We had a crazy day and decided to come home after everything and paint. We stayed up until 1 am but we got it painted. Then Monday we cut the tile and Tuesday I laid the tile. Yesterday I got it grouted. I think it is looking pretty good. The bathroom is going to be the prettiest room in the house but oh well. Some day it all will match.

On another note. Some people think I shouldn't blog, I am not entertaining or exciting enough. Just to set the record straight I am not blogging for others entertainment. I am blogging as a form of Journal for my family. I print the pages I blog and put them in a book. This is the best I have been at keeping some sort of Journal since I was in High School.
So reading is up to you and so is your entertainment.

Are you Thirsty Stanley?

Will loves taking a bath. Yesterday I through him in the tub and when I turned on the water this is what he did.

Do you think he could
drowned that way?
It would certainly choke me but he just giggled and kept doing it.

Do you like the bread bag on his are?
He has an appointment tomorrow to hopefully get that stinky cast off.
I wonder how many baths it will take to get the stench gone after the cast if off. Scary!

Need some Mud!

We are getting closer and closer to peeing in the upstairs bathroom. After the crazy week I had of teacher appreciation and the enrichment craft activity I was in charge of we were ready for a break. We went to dinner with the Kings and Natalie suggested this guy she new that could mud our bathroom. We thought why not give him a call and see what he can do. That was at 9:00 this morning. It is now 1:15 on Sat. and he has finished the first coat. He will be back on Monday to continue. What kind of luck is that to call someone and they can come the same day. He is very nice and quick. I am hoping to be painting by the middle of next week and then we can do tile. I can't wait!
When it is all done you all can come over for a "bathroom party". That is what my kids call it on Sunday morning when we are all in the bathroom trying to get ready.

Farnsworth Family Adventure

Yesterday we decided to go on a little adventure and ride the new Commuter Rail to Salt Lake to visit my mom who was in town for a convention. So we bundled up and headed to the station about a mile from our house. It was so cold and the wind was blowing hard but we endured. When we got to the station we watched the train leave for SLC so we had to wait another 30 minutes in the cold for the next train.
Doing my calculations I figured we could ride the train to Gateway and then catch Trax in the free zone to my mom's hotel. Well, I am really rotten at addresses. We got to SLC and the Train stops on the South side of the Gateway. We figured we could walk 4 blocks to the Trax station and hop on that and then walk a block and a half to see my mom. Or we could walk 6 blocks to my moms hotel. We walked to the hotel! Past Pioneer park, a couple of homeless shelters, and the State Liquor Store. (Ben says that is a stupid name, State Liquor Store, like saying Toad Graphics is Design Store #4. He went on and on about it. That's Ben.) So, not the best part of town with Jason and I and 4 kids. Anyway, we met up with my mom and had dinner and Buca di pebo (how ever you spell that). My kids ate nothing and it cost us plenty of cash. We should have ate at the Mcdonald's by my mom's hotel.
So after dinner we walked back to the hotel and everyone took a potty break, we visited for a few minutes and decided we had better head back to the station so we could get home.

On our way back past the State Liquor Store, sorry Ben, Pioneer park, and a couple of homeless shelters, it starts to snow. It snows that lovely, blowing pellet snow that stings your face. We get to the station just in time to see the north bound train head out.
Now me being the schedule person that I am says to Jason,
"What time is it? That Train was not supposed to leave until 8:07. "
Jason reply's  "8:03, it left early."
Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!! It's a school day tomorrow and Corinne hasn't finished her homework. The next train wasn't scheduled for another hour. AHHHHHHHHH!
Oh, well, this is a Farnsworth Family Adventure isn't it?

10 Minutes later another train shows up and we hope on to head home. Whew! Thanks heavens for messed up schedules. This train was a lot less crowded than going to SLC, we got a seat this time instead of standing squished together like sardines.
We are just zooming a long having a great time. Approaching Woods Cross Station. We get there and the doors don't open. No big deal we aren't getting off there any way. A nice lovely announcement comes on saying Woods Cross Station is being evacuated due to a refinery fire. (Glad I don't live in Woods Cross) All trains would be returning to Salt Lake and buses would be available to take us past the fire to the Farmington Station.
Did I say Farnsworth Family Adventure?
The kids said we should have invited the Kings. They were right, they would have loved the adventure.
So we sit on the train waiting for crazy people to realize that they couldn't stay in Woods Cross at the Station. There is a FIRE! Where are people's brains. Any way we sat there for a while. I ask the kids, so do you want to ride the buses home when we get to Salt Lake or should we call in reinforcements (The Kings) and have them come pick us up in Salt Lake. It was unanimous buses were way more fun.
New announcement
"We just found out that the train next to us is heading north and this train is heading back to Salt Lake"
Mad rush as everyone hurries off our train to get on the other to head home!

We finally arrive home in Farmington at 9:45 pm. Everyone fights for the one potty we have and heads to bed.
Another Farnsworth Family Adventure with a happy ending, no one peed their pants! And yes we will ride the Train again, It was fun!
