Sadie's shot fun

We all know how important it is to immunize our children. Yesterday it was Sadie's turn to start the fun. We visit the health dept. for our immunizations because our insurance doesn't cover shots and the Dr. office is expensive. So Sadie and I get there yesterday and there is no one else there waiting for shots.
Beautiful I say to myself this will be a quick in and out today.
I fill out the paper work and head back to the nurses room for the shots. Sadie is sleeping beautiful this whole time so I gently wake her to let her get stabbed.
As I take off Sadie's jeans the nurse goes crazy saying how cute they are, thanks Carrie, and she holds them up and examines how tiny they are.
Then we continue with the stabbing.
The nurse stabs one leg (she is getting 3 shots) and Sadie starts to scream and then Sadie lets out the biggest bum explosion.
"Hmmm", I say to the nurse,
"that sounded a little scary".
The nurse pays no attention and continues to stab in the other leg.
Sadie screams and sends out another lovely bum noise.
Again the nurse continues on her mary way of stabbing my child.
I am thinking I hope this diaper holds.
Sadie gets her last shot and I turn her around to snuggle her up close to me.
"AHHHHHH", yellow mustard all up her back. Yikes.
The calm nurse says,
"Nursing baby? I can tell."
I calmly ask for a room with a changing table and go to change the blow out queen.
As I get in the one room bathroom, thank heavens, and dig through the diaper bag lucky me,
No wipes.
How do you clean off a 2 month olds diaper explosion with out wipes.
Wet paper towels. That should work for now. I wet a couple of paper towels and then undress my baby as she starts to scream.
Health departments are cold, especially the bathroom.
Here is butt naked Sadie screaming and me trying to clean her off with scratchy, cold, wet paper towels.
"Hmmmm, this isn't working" I think to myself.
"Hey Sadie, do you want a bath?"
I turn on the water in the sink and hold Sadie over the sink and wait and wait.
No hot water.
Well, sorry baby girl here goes. I quickly splash the luke warm water on her back and clean her off the best I can. As my sweet little pumpkin screams her cute little scream.
I start to laugh a little as I imagine this site,
Then I think to myself as I splash and rinse and laugh,
"Good think this is my 5th baby and not my first or I think I would be crying as well."
We finish her lovely bath and I get her dressed. Yes, I had a change of clothes thank goodness.
As we come out of the bathroom the lobby is packed with people.
"Where did all these people come from?" I think to myself.
They all gave me this , "What were you doing to that baby" smile.
I just smiled back like nothing had happened and continued on my way.
Oh, what fun.

Christmas Fun

Christmas 2008, the year I didn't take any pictures. I don't know why but I just didn't snap away like normal. So here are a few picts that I did get. Fondue on Christmas Eve was loads of fun. Above we have Carrie and Jason finishing up the fun. We had a big house full but it is always fun.
This may look like a crazy picture but it means a ton to me. We had a very quite Christmas day enjoying the day with just our little family. My parents gave us the best gift, a freezer full of meat. So here is our Christmas dinner of roast and potatoes thanks to my parents. The kids were so excited because I made rolls. I am going to try and take some other pictures while I have the kids home and I will post them later.
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! We did!

Smiley Sadie!

These pictures make me laugh but I had to post them. Sadie is so smiley lately. But when she smiles sitting up her neck totally disappears. So here is the cute baby without a neck. My camera also doesn't like to take pictures without the flash so they are kind of fuzzy.
Sadie is such a good baby. The past 2 nights she has slept all night. Last night is was from about 11:00 until 7:30.  That's 8 1/2 hours. I was in heavean. But as soon as I woke up I had to check and make sure she was okay. She was just peacefully sleeping. I hope this trend continues, I like getting lots of sleep.

Santa and Rudolf?

This is just my crazy kids again. Whitney, dressed the messy faced Will up as Santa and herself as Rudolf and ran around the house. Whitney had a jump rope around her waist and William was holding it. Whitney crawled on all fours and Will giggled behind her saying, "Merry Christmas!" I love my kids imaginations.

Concert Time

My favorite thing about the holidays is the music. I love Christmas music, especially band Christmas music. I attended Ben's holiday concert last night. It is so nice to sit and enjoy the wonderful music. Those kids are very talented with a great conductor. Listening to them play almost made me cry. I videoed the concert and was really excited to come post it to the blog, until I got out of the shower and saw Will holding the video camera. He deleted everything. I got mad and then realized it was my fault for leaving the camera where he could get it. So I have the music on a cd and I have been trying to figure out how to post that. If anyone knows that would be great.
Anyway the concert was great and I enjoyed a peaceful evening just to myself.

Great Weekend!

We had a fun weekend. Saturday we headed out to cut down our Christmas tree. A tradition we have been doing for as long as we have been married. The kids love to go and it was fun to find snow in the mountains. We went with Jim and Carrie and the King family.
Will spent some of the time in the backpack and some out. He tried to hike through the snow but it was really hard for him.
Here we are with our tree. I had Sadie in the front pack the entire time. It was a work out.
Today, Sunday, we blessed Sadie. All the family came. My parents, and Jerry, Drina, and Gabe drove out and back today. That is 6 hours in the car. It really meant a lot to me.
Sadie was so good and just slept through everything. I made her dress and I am really proud of it. I learned how to do smocking and it was fun and looks awesome. I'll smock something again when I have some free time.

On a different note, I got called to Primary Chorister today. I am so excited to have that calling again. Primary chorister is the best calling in the church and I can't wait to get started singing with the kids.

Thanksgiving part 2

These pictures are all out of order but I just want to get them up.
Corinne was wonderful and took time to read to William while we were in Vernal for Thanksgiving.
After ice skating, (see previous post) we went to where they had tons of big blow up toys and the climbing wall. Ben ran all over the place with Will on his shoulders playing in all the toys. I kept asking Ben if he was ready to leave or if he was bored and he kept telling me no way I am having tons of fun with my little brother.
Ben also enjoyed climbing the National Guard rock wall. He said it was pretty scary when it started to rock back and forth. I always wonder how stable those are.

My kids really enjoyed climbing the rock wall. So did my mowhawk wearing brother.Corinne and Whitney were amazing they each climbed the rock wall 3 times. They wanted to reach the top so badly. In the photo below Corinne is in the middle and Whitney is on the left.

Finally, after Corinne tried 3 times she reached the top. She was so excited the screamed and gave me the biggest grin ever. She is an awesome climber and never gave up.

Thanksgiving 2008

What a fun Thanksgiving! We headed to Vernal this year to spend it with my family. We had so much fun. The kids and Jason and my dad went shooting clay pigens almost everyday we were there. My brother had a small shot gut that Ben was able to shoot with. I don't have any pictures of them shooting but they had a great time.

The day after Thanksgiving we went downtown Vernal to join in all the festivities. These are pictures of the kids ice skating. My kids are pretty good at ice skating and they have never been before. It's all that roller blading that they like to do.

Here is a great picture of my mom and the little kids singing some turkey song. My mom is the best with her grandkids. My nephew, Brandon, enjoyed it the best. He danced and danced.

Orangutan Hair?

Jason and I have decided that Sadie has baby Orangutan hair. What do you think?

Another Crazy remodel

Jason and I have been discussing opening the wall between the kitchen and living room for quite a while. I would always say to Jason how nice it would be to be able to move around in the kitchen. I had talk to him about is so much and I thought he would never do it so I just gave up talking about it. Well all of the sudden her starts talking about getting it done soon. So here we are with some pictures.
Will is a big helper and so Jason gave him a hammer and let him bang on the wall. I am not sure that was a good thing because now he thinks he can hammer all the walls.
Any way the wall came down pretty easily and I am loving it. This picture above shows how crazy this house is. We had 3 layers of sheet rock on the walls. Jason joked that we increase the square footage of our house little by little with each remodel because of all the sheet rock we take off the walls. He may be right.
So now the wall is open. I am really loving it already. Of course now we have the finish work to do and that will start tomorrow. Come by anytime to experience the new openness of my house.

Who needs Milk!

So I am sitting on the couch feeding Sadie. I realized I hadn't seen Will for a little while so I just holler "Will" He answers from the kitchen "what" I ask what are you doing? No comment from the kitchen. Hmmmm! This could be scary. I send Corinne to see what he was up to and all she can say is "whoa! I am glad I already had some chocolate milk."
William thinks Nesquik is delicious right out of the tub.

Happy 12th Birthday Whitney

Today is Whitney's 12th birthday. My sweet wonderful Whitney is growing older and that is scary. Whitney is my best helper and such a sweet heart. We had a fun party for Whitney on Sat. All her girl friends came over and we made cards, played with jewelry and had a yummy chocolate fountain. Whit is my angel and I love her to pieces. I will put pictures of her as soon as I clean the Will finger prints off my camera lens.
My mom always cursed me with a daughter just like me and Whitney is it and I love it. We went shopping at Ross tonight. She was so cute trying on clothes and then she used her own birthday money to buy them. She got 3 shirts and a pair of jeans for $35. That is my kind of shopping.

Ben's Poem

This was one of Ben's assignments in his english class. He had to write a poem.  I love how he feels about his little brother. I don't know if I am just slightly emotional right now but it made me cry.

I LOVE MY BROTHER!

I love my brother because
He is two.

I love my brother because
He is cute.

I love my brother because
He is fun.

I love my brother because
He’s number one.

I love my brother because
He’s a stinker.

I love my brother because
He’s a thinker.

I love my brother because
He loves me.

I love my brother as
You can see!

Sadie is 2 Weeks!

Can you believe how time flies? I can hardly believe Sadie is 2 weeks old today. She still sleeps all the time so I haven't gotten any pictures of her awake. She is a great baby. I am still trying to adjust to having 5 kids but I think we are doing well.
Sadie went for her hearing test today because she didn't pass the one when she was born. My kids have all had that problem so I wasn't concerned. She passed with flying colors. The lady who did her test just kept saying over and over how beautiful she was. I would certainly agree. I told her that is why we have 5!
I hope to get some good pictures this weekend and send out birth announcements. And I will post some to the blog.

Post-Partum Insanity (Halloween Fun)

I decided to have a little cousin fun here on Halloween. Yes I have a 1 week old so Marianne called it post-partum insanity. She may be right but we had a lot of fun. We had all the cousins that could come over and we decorated trick or treat bags and halloween cookies. We had lots of fun and lots of mess.
Corinne thanked me before the party saying she would pull her hair up for the day. Amazing, it never really happened but that was her way of saying thanks. We had 14 kids at our house and we had a lot of fun. I really wanted to do something but didn't want the pressure of people over. That's when I thought of family. They don't care if your house is clean or if you have to stop everything to feed a baby. They just keep on playing. It was a lot of fun.

Here are my kids in their Halloween costumes. We were in a really big hurry so this is all I got of them. Whitney is a flapper girl, Sadie a kitty, Corinne a witch and William was Super Why. You may wonder where Ben is in all this. With him being 14 he doesn't trick or treat anymore. He stayed home and handed out candy. I think he enjoyed being home. Then Will came and shared all his candy with Ben. It was great fun.

She's Here!

Sadie Melinda
Thursday Oct. 23rd
3:59 pm
6 lbs 14 oz
19 inchs

She is finally here. And we are so excited to have her.
Thursday morning I went to the Dr. and I was dilated to a 6. She told me she didn't want me out walking around afraid the baby would come really quick. She asked me if I would like to just meet her at the hospital. Yeah! After getting all our stuff together we headed to the hospital. They came and broke my water at 12:30 and she was born at 3:59.
Everything went really great!
This blog is for the Kurt and Marianne family. I love you guys a ton and thanks for being so considerate when you are sick by not visiting. She won't grow too much by the time you are all feeling better. I love you!

Fun at Wal-Mart

What would we do without dad? Jason and Will had a little too much fun at Wal-Mart the other day. This is a box that Jason made a space ship out of the cart for Will. This picture is a little blurry because is was taken with Jason's phone. Way too much fun for Wal-Mart.

Fall Fun

Saturday was an awesome fall day. We decided we could have a lot of fun going to the corn maze. Whitney and Corinne stayed the night with Aunt Carrie and Amy for a little girl fun while Eli and Brandon were hunting. Saturday afternoon we decided to go to the corn maze. Carrie's sister-in-law Lori decided to come with us.
Carrie and I are not very good at finding our way around things so we just let Jason and the other Lori lead us around. I love this picture below of everyone trying to figure out which way to go. Every except Ben. Ben decided to go a head of us.
That Ben has a sense of direction that is amazing. This is where we found him after all the rest of us walked around getting lost. He said he sat there and laughed because he could here us walking around but we couldn't find where we needed to be.
After the corn maze we came back to our house a carved pumpkins. We have carved pumpkins with my sister every year now for quite a while. Her hubby is always hunting so we get together and carve with out him. What is really fun is where we get the pumpkins. My mom and dad, Nana and Papa, plant pumpkins every year for their grandkids. (And big kids) This year I think my mom said they had 36 pumpkins. We love it.
But my favorite part would  have to be the pumpkin seeds. I love roasting the seeds. They are so delicious and quite good for you. This year the other Lori went through all the guts and pulled out the seeds. This is the most seeds I have ever had. I told her we were inviting her every year.
I thought I would take a picture of the seeds. This is just before they go in the oven to roast. I can't wait to eat them and neither can Corinne.

False Alarm?

So I went to the Dr. yesterday. I am dilated to a 4+ and 75% effaced. I love my Dr. She told me that if I have contractions that are 10 minutes or closer apart to go right to the hospital and I will come break your water. I got the cleaning nesting yesterday and went to town on my house. But no contractions. At 9:30 pm my sister Carrie called to see how things were going. Well, nothing of course, so I said I would talk to her in the morning. By 10:00 I was having contractions every 10 minutes. By 11:00 I was having them every 5 minutes. So at 11:30 I decided to head to the hospital. We drop off Will at Carries and head up there. They hook me up to the machines and sure enough, contractions every 3-5 minutes. Then the bad news, my Dr. was out for the evening and another Dr. was filling in for her. The on call Dr. made me walk the halls with Jason for an hour and see if I was any farther along. After 25 laps around the same boring halls, which calculates to 1 1/2 miles I was still the same and the Dr. thought I should just go home. AHHHHH! We got home at 3:30 this morning still just as fat as when I left. I had contractions up until 7:00. If my Dr. would have been there I would be posting about a baby. Now I am having no contractions and I am grumpy as all get out.
So now I am going to call my Dr. and see when she is going to be at the hospital and what she would like me to do. As for the rest of the day I think we will play some cards, go to the library and eat.
If anyone has any good ideas I starting contractions back up I would love to hear them.

Merry Christmas?

This is what I woke up to this morning. This is a picture taken out my back door. Not the best picture but I didn't want to go out in the snow. It's kind of fun but really cold. William just stared out the window for about a minute and then said "Snow on my car." He was very concerned.
I felt the effects of the low pressure all night having contractions that woke me up every hour. Since getting up this morning they have stopped which, honestly, I was hoping they would. I still have a few projects to finish before she gets here.
Everyone have a great Sunday and we hope this all melts by tomorrow.

Baby Lottery!

I thought is would be fun to do a baby lottery and see what you all think about when this baby will get here. I was just at the Dr. today and I am dilated to a 3 and 75% effaced. Could be any day or could be any week. Leave your comment stating date, time, weight and who knows maybe even the sex. (you never know what might happen) and while your at it you might as well give us a name idea.
I am truly sick of peeing every hour and not sleeping but other than that life is the same and I am ready for her(or him) to get here. This is probably one of those too much info posts but oh well I am full of too much info.

We've Been Robbed!

We came home from camping this weekend and walked in the house. I looked around for minute and thought, "Did I leave the living room this clean?" It took me a minute and then I saw the note. While we were camping my wonderful sister Carrie and my parents robbed us of all the dirt in my house. At first I couldn't decided if I was happy or mad. I kept thinking, "Was my house that dirty that my sister felt she needed to clean it." After a few minutes of surveying everything I decided that I was thrilled. This is something I would do for my sister if she was about to pop being pregnant.
What brought the whole thing on was I had been complaining to Carrie that I couldn't get my kitchen floor clean. I hate old linoleum. She thought she would come and clean it for me. After talking with my parents they came as well and did the whole house.
My favorite parts would have to be the kitchen floor and Will's carpet. The carpet in Will's room got way too much attention this summer from Will and Alex. (read back blogs to see) I kept saying I needed to clean it before baby but just hadn't gotten there. Well it is done now and looks great.
Thanks again Carrie, Mom and Dad. I love you!  I am a little mad but mostly glad. Now I can get Halloween costumes done for my kids before that baby!

I love canning!

I love canning season, at least this year I do. I have decided that my years of loving it come in spurts and this is my year.

So far I have canned:
22 quarts of pears,
11 pints and 12 quarts salsa,
15 pints blackberry jelly,
25 quart baggies of frozen peaches,
and 4 quarts bottles peaches.

The best part it the only thing I had to buy were the peaches. I have more peaches coming today that I hope will bottle better than the last ones. Everything else has been given to me by people in my ward. I love where I live.
So, now there is nothing better than opening my pantry and seeing all that wonderful food ready for what might be a bleak winter (thanks to the economy). Not that we can live on pears and salsa but it is one last thing I have to buy.
Maybe I should take a picture of all my works a blog it. Nahhh, I don't really fit in the pantry that well to take a picture. But believe me it is pretty.

Save Thousands Today!

Visit the Orthodontist!
Best news of the day yesterday! Ben does not need oral surgery!!!!!!! He just saved me a ton of money. We went to visit the orthodontist yesterday and as we were walking in Ben told the me that the tooth in the roof of his mouth has started to come in. I really didn't think much of it. When Dr. Bailey took a look at is he said good news, I am going to save you a ton of money, Ben doesn't need an oral surgeon to take care of that. We will just have your dentist pull out the baby tooth and then I can hook onto the tooth coming in and pull it into place." Yeah!
Then after Ben's appointment, with only 45 minutes left of school, he wanted to go back to school so he wouldn't miss anything. What an awesome kid.

Farnsworth King Adventure #500

Last Saturday we decided to meet the Kings in Park City for a little park fun. Well, as we decided to take the rain with us and the park was out of the question. So we met the Kings at the Utah Olympic Park and we just happened to show up when the ski jumpers were practicing.
It was so much fun to watch the skiers jump off there ramps into the pool. Doing all sorts of tricks before landing in the water.
If you can tell the water is really bubbly. They actually turn on air jet in the water at the skier gets ready to land to they can see the water. Jason said it had something to do with the fact that the skier can't tell the difference between the water and the sky. Makes since.
The kids really loved watching the jumpers. It was Will's favorite part. We got back in the car and Will yells "Climb, Climb, Climb, Launch! Launch!" He could have watched it all day even though it was raining. The kids on the rock from left to right, Sarah, Corinne, Whitney, Ben, Ryan and Daniel.
This is Whitney and Will on our way home listening to Whitney's Ipod. I just thought it was so sweet that she would share the music with Will and he loved it.

Nesting?

Maybe? I wish, sometimes, that my nesting instinct consisted of deep cleaning my house. I am sure that if that were the case my house would shine all the time. But instead I do things like paint. I paint everything. This time it is my dining table. This table is a hand me down from my parents. 4 years ago I decided that I didn't like the brown color that it was and decided to paint it red. I was a paint dork at the time and the paint just peeled right off. We kept using it all this time in the crappy red peeling paint, partly sanded, brown color.
Now that I know to use primer on everything, I decided to tackle this project again. I had the chairs out side sanding them down and Jason came out and said, "Oh, no not this project again." Well, after a lot of work here are the results. I think it turned out great. I am searching for another chair to go with it so if anyone out there has one please let me know. Any condition, almost, is fine.
What should I paint next?

What a day!

As some of you might have heard on the news there was a stand off in Farmington yesterday. It was in our ward boundaries and yes I knew the man and his family. It is crazy to think how things can change for someone so quickly. The kids schools was on lock down all day and they were all trying to find out why they couldn't go out to play when it wasn't raining. I walked over and picked my girls up from school and we talked about the situation on the way home. Whit was more scared than Corinne because Whitney new more. The school did a great job of not letting the kids know what was happening. Whit new bits and pieces because she is in the oldest grade.
Just as we got everyone into bed last night we heard the blasts. The blasts were smoke bomb type things.  It was scary and Jason and I just looked at each other. Whitney came out of her room in tears thinking it was gun shots. She has a really good friend who lives 2 houses away and Whitney was worried about her. After a while we got Whitney calmed down and she and Ben sat and watched the news with us. Nothing came on the 9:00 news. We sent the kids to bed and I watched the 10:00 news tell about the man, Brian, shooting himself. That mixed in with the shots we had heard just after 9.
My friend Natalie came over this morning and we talked more about the incident. We both new Brian and new he was a nice guy who was having a really rotten day. To people outside of our area looking in they would think ahhh how scary. But us, knowing the person, knew it really wasn't scary at all. We wondered how many times on the news we hear about situations like this and think "whoa, glad I don't live there" when really, what do we know.

Do you feel like being crafty?

It's coming up on craft night in our ward and I am in charge of the craft. I thought I would post what we were doing so if you of you would like to join us you can.  This first one is a growing board. It says Watch Me Grow down one side and then had foot mark offs on the other. That way you can measure yourself and kids and see how tall you are growing.  For those without children at home you could always hang it sideways and measure your wide or slender you are going. :) This is only $10.
This next one is a hanging frame board. I had fun doing this and I would even include the cute pictures of my kids in the hanging if you don't have any to put there. :) This comes just plain wood and you get to paint it whatever color you would like. A cute girl in my ward said she was going to paint each frame a different color. I thought that would be cute. This is also $10 and that includes everything you see. Some people were surprised at that price but it really is true.
Let me know if you want to come and craft with us on Thurs. Oct. 9th.
